Drive Technology & Cycling - Team Felbermayr Simplon Wels at ATP in Marchtrenk
Before the racing operation is resumed in July after the forced break caused by the corona crisis, on 02 July 2020 we were able to welcome the Felbermayr Simplon Wels team with racing director Andreas Grossek as well as RSW shareholders Daniel Repitz, Harald Benesch and Paul Resch in our house for a joint ride.
With the professional cyclists Riccardo Zoidl (Austrian Tour winner 2013 and four years professional at the World Tour Teams Trek and CCC), Stefan Rabitsch (winner of the Radbundesliga 2019 and multiple winner of international tours), top sprinter Filippo Fortin from Italy, Ziga Groselj from Slovenia, Fabian Schormair from Germany, Moran Vermeulen, Manuel Bosch and local hero Thomas Umhaller, a 70 km lap was driven at a moderate pace through the Upper Austrian Alpine foothills in ideal weather.
Afterwards, there was a lot of interesting to learn from the world of cycling during a conversation with the cycling professionals. The participants were thrilled by this eventful day.
Team Felbermayr Simplon Wels was only able to race in Turkey and Croatia at the beginning of the season due to the corona crisis. These races already showed with Ricardo Zoidl's stage win at the Tour of Antalya as well as the second places by Fabian Schormair and Filippo Fortin, how strong the team is this year. From mid-March 2020, the 10 professional cyclists had to train at home and have meanwhile coiled down thousands of training kilometers alone. It was only at the end of June that we were again able to train together at a training camp in the Innviertel. The team is well prepared and motivated for the next races.
On 4 and 5 July, three individual time trials will take place as part of the Palten-Ennstal Tour. From 7 to 9 July, three spectacular mountain time trials will occur on the Grossglockner, the Kitzbüheler Horn and the Rettenbachferner. At the end of July, there will be the first international races in Poland and Romania. We wish team Felbermayr Simplon Wels every success and hope for numerous top places in the upcoming races.
